The Children   Back to UNICEF pic gallery

Children play and learn by making manyattas out of grass and sticks. The children aged 3-7 years  attend the early learning centre at Pepo la Tumaini Jangwani,  (Wind of Hope in the Arid), an HIV/AIDS community support group in Isiolo. Most of the children are AIDs affected or infected. UNICEF supports Tumaini with nutrition supplements – 10kgs of UNIMIX per vulnerable child/family member per month – and equipment and training  and training  for home-based care. Children from the Pepo la Tumaini Jangwani, (Wind of Hope in the Arid), gather outside the centre’s building. The wall behind the children contains a mural advocating “Refuse early marriage, finish your studies, do not stigmatize victims, Love and support them” and “AIDS is real.”
