Grandmother with one of the six grandchildren she cares for since most of her daughters have died at the Kambi Garba Centre Point. The Kambi Garba Centre Point is one of 9 around Isiolo operated by Pepo La Tumaini Jangwani (Wind of Hope in the Arid). It provides a focus for HIV/AIDS community support, including treatment of AIDS-related infections, home-based care, awareness and prevention and distribution of UNIMIX that is provided by UNICEF -10kgs of UNIMIX is provided per vulnerable child/family member per month. Members of the “grandmother generation” at Kambi Garba which has been hard hit by HIV/AIDS. Many of the older women are now caring for their grandchildren and live in deep poverty unable to meet basic household food needs.
