| Jonina M’mae, a Home Based Care volunteer at Pepo La Tumaini Jangwani visits 9 year old Hassan using the home based care kit supplied by UNICEF. Jojnina has been a volunteer for Tumaini for 4 years. She currently visits 6 HIV/AIDS affected people on average twice a week. Hassan has lived with his grandmother most of his life. Both his parents died of AIDS. Hassan is not on ARVs because he has not achieved the WHO recommended weight that will enable;e him to take adult ARVS and pediatric ARVS are currently unavailable or extremely expensive. Tumaini serves over 1000 families and more than 600 highly vulnerable children through home based care, placement services, rehabilitation and protection, psycho-social counseling, community mobilization and training. | |
